Yakitori Hareruya
About This Spot
Stepping into Yakitori Hareruya feels like slipping into a quietly cherished local secret tucked just beyond the busier streets of Hakata. The space is intimate and unpretentious, where the hum of focused conversation blends naturally with the gentle sizzle from the grill. Time seems to ease up here, the pace unhurried and welcoming, offering a comforting pause from the outside world.
At the heart of this small yakitori restaurant are two chefs whose dedication shapes every moment — from taking reservations to flipping skewers and serving each dish with a quietly grounded warmth. The atmosphere is modest yet animated; the rhythm comes not from a bustling crowd but from the shared appreciation among guests who come early or lucky enough to snag a prized spot.
The food experience is deeply intertwined with the care behind it. Expect the delicate char of grilled chicken skin and tender hearts, alongside day-to-day discoveries from fresh fish and seasonal vegetables transformed with simple, soulful techniques. Each bite hints at thoughtful craftsmanship — whether it’s the subtle sweetness mellowed by black sugar plum drinks or the satisfying crunch of crisped eggplant. These flavors aren’t shouted; they unfold gently, inviting you into a moment of slow enjoyment that feels both familiar and quietly unique.
For those seeking a genuine taste of Hakata life, Yakitori Hareruya is less a destination than a lived-in corner of the neighborhood — a place where food and kindness converge softly. It’s the kind of spot where the owners’ smiles and seamless hospitality quietly turn a meal into a memory, making every visit feel a little like coming home.

Went at opening time and very luckily got the only open seats that were being held for a 7:30pm reservation slot! What a joy to eat at this restaurant. It’s run by two hardworking chefs who do everything from answering non-stop phone calls (for reservations), to taking orders, cooking, serving, washing dishes, making drinks! Food was great, loved the Tamago-yaki especially, but service is what made meal memorable. (Not to mention it was so affordable!!) Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I am a foreigner and I do not speak Japanese. The service was simply amazing. The owners were friendly and welcoming, greeting us with smiles and also an English menu. The ordering process was super smooth. Food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend this place if you’re craving izakaya. We managed to walk in at 630pm on a Saturday and got lucky cos their next reservation was 725pm. Enjoy!

I was blown away. Low key local restaurant just out of the bustle of Hakata station. Food quality of all yakitori was incredible, possible the best I've had. Standouts were the miso pork and the chicken cartilage. The two chefs were just fantastic, their passion made the meal even better. Super affordable too. Please come early to ensure you get a seat. I would definitely recommend and will come back! A true 5 star Japanese experience!

We arrived late and were hunting for food, so we were lucky they had a spot for us. The restaurant is an old-school yakitori place with a cozy, nostalgic vibe. The staff were friendly, and the food was surprisingly good. The most amazing part? We ate and drank a lot, yet the total bill was just 5,000 yen for two people. That’s incredible value for money. Definitely deserves 5 stars!

Small and quaint joint manned by two guys who are living their dream. At least thats what i think living the dream is like - pure joy on their faces in what they do. Master craftsmen in hospitality. The place fills up fast and reservations are definitely needed. We saw many walk in enquiries that were disappointed but rather than upscale, you can tell the two owners prefer keeping their service intimate. The food is prepared with gusto and pride. The star of the show were the grilled pork knuckles. Had two of those beauties. Just pure fire and cartilage goodness. Definitely wish we were living in Fukuoka so we can dine here weekly.

The restaurant is slightly away from the Hakata train station. However the food was great and the shop owners are super chill and friendly. We ordered 5 dishes and the final bill came in pocket -friendly too. Great restaurant and we will come back again!
